Describe time you and a family member have argued about the truth of a memory.
My step-daughter … complained that her mother never took her to ballet lessons or gymnastics, or went to her track meets or showed up for any of her extracurricular events. I seem to recall that her mother took her to gymnastics lessons, but my step-daughter denied that.
It did make me wonder, for a few moments, if I had a “selective” memory, but upon further contemplation, I remembered an event at a performance — she was in line to do somersaults and after doing it successfully, she ran to her mother and embraced her, though she was not supposed to and the coach admonished her. I could understand that I might forget an event, but I doubt if I could make up all of that. My daughter and her mother have a strained relationship at the moment, so I suspect her denial was just some grumbling.
