I was on a small boat off the coast of Alaska a few years ago, hoping to take some photos along the coastline. By chance, a group of humpback whales began bubble-net feeding near the boat. A researcher was on the boat and explained how the whales communicated a specific plan for the feeding technique to each other and repeated the procedure several times, allowing all the whales to eat a large quantity of food. Witnessing that event caused me to believe there was much, much more to the world and wildlife than what most of us allow ourselves to realize.
